Dr Dennis Mazingi wins best presentation prize at the 15th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion (Safety 2024)

Dennis Mazingi, a Beit scholar and DPhil student at the University of Oxford, has won the best poster presentation prize at the 15th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion (Safety 2024). This prestigious event, known for convening experts in injury prevention and safety from around the world, celebrated its latest edition with a focus on innovative strategies for injury prevention in New Delhi, India. 

Dennis’s presentation highlighted his impactful research in partnership with UNICEF to develop a global set of indicators for childhood injury prevention for use by country offices around the world. Through his contributions, Dennis and his team at the George Institute for Global Health will support the implementation of this global indicator set to stimulate policy action on the important issue of childhood injuries. In addition, the team has managed to get their work recognised and included in “The Adolescent health indicators recommended by the Global Action for Measurement of Adolescent health release recently by WHO in collaboration with UNAIDS, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF, UN Women, the World Bank Group, and the World Food Programme.
