Meet our Scholars

This Meet our Scholars page helps showcase Beit Scholars: their disciplines, achievements and the Beit partner universities they attended. Each year, over 300 scholarship applicants meet our criteria and are accepted by our UK and South African partner universities. We are able, however, to grant only 20 scholarships annually. In this context, a Beit Scholarship is a major achievement: the springboard to a career, or a ladder to greater achievement from within an existing profession.

At the same time, the Trust expects our scholars to give something back to their home countries, to re-invest their knowledge and skills, and to boost national human capital for the benefit of the people of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi. This is the central tenet of Alfred Beit’s Will and the main reason the Beit Trust maintains its Scholarship program. We would, therefore, like you to meet our Beit Scholars.  We are proud of their achievements and association with us.

If you are a Beit Scholar, we invite you to reinforce your connection to the Trust and your peers by joining the BSA (Beit Scholarship Association). Click Here to Find Out More

Beit Scholars are special and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with one another. Once a Beit Scholar, always a Beit Scholar. The Beit Scholarship Association (BSA) brings together present and former recipients of a Beit Scholarship.

We accordingly invite all Beit Scholars, from every era, to join the BSA Group on LinkedIn. Beit Scholars wishing to expand their knowledge base in particular academic or professional areas; to seek advice or help from those already established in their fields; or to begin or renew friendships or social contacts will find the BSA a helpful and welcoming forum.
