Chikowa Secondary School (Aquaid Lifeline)

Two Semi-Detached Double Houses
Malawi – February 2025

Aquaid Lifeline and Chikowa Secondary School are extremely grateful to the Beit Trust for the provision of this grant providing four teacher’s houses which will go a long way in attracting and maintaining good quality teachers for the school. With more teachers residing on site a higher quality of education will now be provided through reduced absenteeism, more committed and motivated teachers and the provision of additional classes such as afternoon and evening classes and weekend classes. This will translate into a reduced drop-out rate, better exam results and higher pass rates and a greater number of students achieving high enough grades to qualify for college and university.

The entirety of the grant funding was exhausted.

This view shows the side view of the house with a door leading to the courtyard and rear of the house where there is an outside kitchen area, storeroom and washroom. Behind the houses are the pit latrines.

This area provides a well-ventilated area allowing for a covered kitchen and cooking area opposite the rear veranda. There is also a washing room and storeroom on either end of the kitchen.
