Upon completion of his MSc in Financial Economics at the University of Edinburgh in September 2023 as a Beit Scholar, Mataa Wakumelo returned to Lusaka, Zambia. Their Central Bank, the Bank of Zambia, soon appointed him as Analyst-Domestic Markets in the Financial Markets Department. Prior to joining the Bank, Mataa held the position of Public Finance Researcher at the Centre for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD).

Mataa wrote to the Beit Trust to say; “This is a dream come true for me and aligns very well with my career objectives. I am very grateful to the Beit Trust for the training opportunity that has set me up for this big step in my career.”
